INSURANCE UNIT
BRIEF HISTORY
With the establishment of the Faculty of Management Sciences in 1999, the Department was established as a full University Academic Degree awarding Development. This status was maintained till 2005 when the faculty was merged into three departments. Insurance thus became a Degree Awarding Unit of the Department of Accounting and Finance.

OBJECTIVES
- To equip and expose students to the concepts and principles of Insurance.
- To provide students with the knowledge required to operate as professionals in the field of Insurance.
- To provide students with understanding of modern tools in risk transfer.

Two `A` level passes chosen from, Economics, Accounts, Business Management , Government, Geography or Statistics, Full Time accepts only LASU Diploma at Upper Credit Level in Relevant discipline. |
Five `O` Level credit passes including English Languages, Mathematics Economics Plus any two of Accounting, Business Method, Commerce, Government, Geography and Statistics. |
Mathematics, Economics, and one Social Science subject.

DEGREE REQUIREMENTS
To satisfy the requirements for graduation, a student must take a minimum of 144 units for a 4- year programme or 108 units for a 3- year programme. A student shall be required to pass a minimum of 180 units for a 5-year programme , 144 units for a 4-year programme or 108 units for a 3-year programme, including all compulsory courses and project before he/she can qualify for the award of a degree of this University. All students shall be required to pass a specified number of General University required courses before they can quality for the award for the award of a degree of this University.
